Calgary’s 100th Stampede!

A view from the ferris wheel of my pretty town.

Being an ESL teacher has made me so much more aware and proud of the culture in Alberta. Though I am not normally a country music listening or cowboy hat wearing type of girl, I truly enjoyed “showing off” this side of Calgary to my students. We took them to the annual parade, brought them to Stampede breakfasts, and I even got to teach them how to line dance Cadillac Ranch style. Funny how it’s taken me all these years to finally recognize and embrace the uniqueness of my beef-loving province.

Happy 100th anniversary!
