I am so pleased that today’s baking day turned out a success! With the French macaroons being such a dismal failure, these fruit tarts definitely made up for it! And what better summer dessert than one garnished with juicy handpicked berries (the raspberries came straight from the backyard!)?
My friend and I did not have a tart pan, instead we improvised and used a muffin tray to house the pastries. It baked wonderfully although the crust turned out to be a bit too thick, but that can be easily remedied for the next time. The filling was yummy and had just the right amount of sweetness. The recipe calls for 2% or whole milk, but our decision to go with skim proved to be a smart choice because it kept the tart’s overall flavour very light.
We followed the recipe from Joy of Baking and it was quite straight forward! Try it and let me know what you think.
Our next baking day will most likely involve a Chocolate Almond Torte so please stayed tuned!
